Gender parties, the latest party trend for announcing the gender of your baby to family and friends and sometimes even one or both of the parents.

This type of party is something new to me. When I was having my children, they were just starting to talk about finding out the gender of your baby. I was content with being surprised when the doctor announced whether my baby was a girl or a boy. I don’t think that parents have the patience that we did a few years ago! We settled for pale yellow and mint green as far as colors for decorating the nursery and selecting an outfit for our bundle of joy to wear for their trip home.

Now you can even choose to have your ultra sound done in 3D or a video that looks like the baby was actually photographed. It’s unreal how far technology has come in a short period of time.

I understand the Gender Party concept and it is great in my opinion. It’s a unique way to celebrate the joyful event of not only the gender but the fact that a new life is being announced and celebrated with family and friends. The fun of decorating for the event as well as the creativity of selecting games and foods that help make guessing the gender fun and a family event which includes friends. There are a multitude of invitations, poems, quotes, baked goods and decorations you could use to make your event memorable and personalized. Feel free to be as creative as you could be for the planning and for the main event or grand finale when your announcement is made. The ideas are endless whether you us Google or your own imagination!

Most parties are just for celebrating the joyful announcement. Gifts are not the focus of the party the way that Baby Showers are. It is acceptable to bring something if you like but it is not the purpose or focus of the event.
