DAYTON — Ranked as the No. 2 showcase event in the nation by CBS Sports/MaxPreps, the 12th annual Good Samaritan Hospital Flyin’ To the Hoop Invitational will occur over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, Friday through Monday, at Kettering’s James S. Trent Arena.

The event features some of the top ranked teams and highest-rated high school players in the United States. The invitational presents 37 teams playing 22 games over four days.

A number of local teams have been invited including Versailles, Beavercreek, Dayton Dunbar and Trotwood Madison among others. It is anticipated that numerous recognized university and college coaches/recruiters once again will be in the stands.

According to Eric Horstman, founder of the event, “more than 350 players in the first 10 years of the tournament went on to play NCAA Division I college basketball, including 23 players that went to the NBA. Eighteen current NBA players have participated in the event including the last two No. 1 draft picks—Anthony Davis (New Orleans) and Anthony Bennett (Cleveland). The caliber of talent at this event is amazing to witness. Spectators will be watching future college and NBA stars.”
