ST. HENRY — The Versailles baseball team erased a three-run deficit against St. Henry on Thursday night but ended up losing 4-3.
St. Henry took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Versailles then scored a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3, but St. Henry’s Brian Kremer got an infield single with two outs in bottom of the sixth to score Jason Jacobs for game-winning run.
Versailles had four hits and one error on the night. St. Henry had eight hits and no errors.
Austin Knapke was charged with the loss for Versailles as he pitched three innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits and one walk. Jace Barga went three innings as well, allowing three runs on six hits, three walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively Barga led Versailles by going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBI and a run scored. Dan Borchers was 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Derek Borhorst went 1-for-3 while Kyle Rutschilling and Mitch Gigandet both walked once and scored a run.
Versailles fell to 7-6 with the loss.
