ARCANUM — Nathan Kubik and Conner Pohl combined for a no-hitter as the Arcanum baseball team beat Ansonia 6-2 on Thursday in a Cross County Conference game.
Arcanum scored one run in the bottom half of the first inning, two in the second and three in the third for a 6-0 lead. Ansonia got two runs in the seventh inning for the 6-2 final score.
Arcanum had nine hits and one error in the game. Ansonia had no hits and one error.
Kubik was the winning pitcher as he threw six innings, allowing two runs on no hits, five walks and four strikeouts. Pohl pitched one inning, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and one strikeout.
Cody Burnfield was the losing pitcher for Ansonia as he pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs and four unearned runs on eight hits, two walks and one strikeout. Max Muir went one inning, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk.
Kyle Carlisle went 2-for-2 for Arcanum while Cole Burrell and Pohl were both 2-for-3.
Arcanum improved to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the CCC with the win while Ansonia fell to 2-13.
