DARKE COUNTY - Local schools are watching legislation that could potentially provide more leeway for calamity days due to recent severe weather.House Bill 416, which was passed on March 12 by both the Senate and House of Representatives, would grant four additional calamity days for schools to use once they have made up four contingency days.Governor John Kasich is now expected to sign the bill soon, which has an emergency clause allowing it to be enacted immediately.
