GREENVILLE – The Greenville boys swim team won its regular season finale on Friday, defeating Arcanum, Botkins, Coldwater, Houston, Minster and Tri-Village at the YMCA of Darke County in Greenville.

Greenville won the boys portion of the meet with 83 points. Minster finished second with 74 points, Coldwater was third with 38, Arcanum finished fourth with 22, Houston was fifth with 14, Tri-Village finished sixth with 12, and Botkins placed seventh with eight.

“I’m so happy because we’ve been trying all year to win a meet,” Greenville swim coach Mollie Mendoza said. “We’ve been waiting to do this, and the boys really stepped up today. We’ve had so many time drops today. I think every single boy dropped time in all their events. I think that because of all their hard work all season, this is the culmination of that, and they won. So I’m so happy.”

Also making Friday’s meet big for Greenville was that it was senior night for the Wave’s lone senior swimmer: Jose’ Badell, who holds almost every record in program history.
