Greenville softball team run rules Springfield

CEDARVILLE – The Greenville softball team run ruled Springfield 12-1 in five innings at Cedarville University on Thursday.

Greenville scored four runs in the top half of the second inning to start out the scoring. After Springfield scored its lone run in the bottom half of the second, Greenville added three runs in the third, four in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Sydney Grote pitched the complete game for the Lady Wave, allowing one unearned run on seven hits, no walks and five strikeouts.

Ashton Kester went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs for Greenville. Makayla Hanes was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs and three RBIs. Jazzlyn Petry was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Alli Hill went 2-for-4 with a triple, a RBI and a run.

Cassie Cromwell went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs. Lani Shilt was 1-for-1 with two runs. Alyssa York went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Alexis Byers stole a base and scored a run. Logan Tabler drove in a run.

Greenville improved to 14-4 with Thursday’s win while Springfield fell to 0-22.
