Unearned runs lead to Mississinawa Valley loss to Twin Valley South

WEST ALEXANDRIA – Mississinawa Valley out-hit Twin Valley South 16 to six on Friday but lost 13-11 in a Cross County Conference softball game.

After Mississinawa Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Twin Valley South scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning and four in the second to lead 7-1. Mississinawa cut its deficit to 7-4 in the top half of the third, but South scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 12-4. MV scored four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh while Twin Valley South scored its final run in the sixth for the 13-11 final score.

Mississinawa Valley had 16 hits and nine errors in the game. Twin Valley South had six hits and four errors.

Leslie Dirksen went 4-for-4 with a walk, two stolen bases, two RBIs and three runs. Taydem Elson was 3-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases, two runs and a RBI. Bailey Johnson was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and a RBI.

Kinsie Blocher went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two RBIs. Paxton Scholl was 2-for-4 with a stolen base, three RBIs and two runs. Grace Livingston went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Abby Livingston was 1-for-4 with a run. Makayla Coning also had a hit and stole a base.

Scholl pitched three innings and allowed 12 unearned runs on five hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Dirksen pitched three innings and allowed one unearned run on one hit, no walks and one strikeout.
