Ansonia, Bradford track and field athletes qualify for OHSAA regional meet

WEST MILTON – Athletes from Ansonia and Bradford qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association regional track and field meet with their performances at districts.

Ansonia and Bradford both competed at the Division III district meet at Milton-Union High School. The top four finishers in each event qualified for this week’s regional meet.

Bradford’s Rhyan Turner finished fourth in the boys 110 meter hurdles in 16.02. He also finished fourth in the boys 300 meter hurdles in 43.04.

Ansonia’s quartet of Devyn Sink, Dane Wentworth, Max Wardrip and Austin Alexander finished fourth in the boys 4×100 meter relay with a time of 46.72.

Bradford’s Karmen Knepp finished fourth in the girls 3,200 meter run in a time of 11:49.56.

Bradford’s quartet of Rhyan Turner, Zach Miller, Kyle Mills and Kurt Hoover finished fourth in the boys 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:36.88.

Ansonia’s Heath Barga finished fourth in the boys shot put with a toss of 40 feet 2 inches.

Ansonia’s Lydia Sink finished third in the girls long jump with a jump of 15 feet 7.25 inches. She finished second in the girls high jump by clearing 5 feet.

Ansonia’s Trevor Alexander finished second in the boys high jump by clearing 6 feet.

Other Ansonia and Bradford athletes finished outside of the top four in their events and didn’t advance.

Ansonia’s quartet of Katie Werts, Amber Bergman, Skyler Marker and Megan Bergman finished 10th in the girls 4×800 meter run with a time of 11:46.53.

Ansonia’s team of Payton Setser, Jacob Vietor, Garrett Weyant and Logan Warner finished 10th in the boys 4×800 meter relay in a time of 10:42.67.

Ansonia’s Bailey Stammen finished ninth in the preliminaries of the girls 100 meter hurdles in 18.38 and Bradford’s Adria Roberts finished 15th in 19.62.

Bradford’s Hunter Penkal was disqualified in the preliminaries of the boys 110 meter hurdles.

Ansonia’s Atyah Knowles finished ninth in the preliminaries of the girls 100 meter dash in a time of 13.82, Ansonia’s Stefani Garrett finished 10th in 13.88, Bradford’s Maia Stump finished 14th in 14.26 and Bradford’s Destiny Otte finished 16th in 14.47.

Ansonia’s Austin Alexander finished sixth in the preliminaries of the boys 110 meter dash with a time of 11.62 while Ansonia’s Dane Wentworth finished 15th in the preliminaries in 12.31 and Bradford’s Hayden Dickerson finished 28th in 14.25.

Ansonia’s squad of Atyah Knowles, Stefani Garrett, Aliya Barga and Lydia Sink finished fifth in the girls 4×200 meter run with a time of 1:52.69.

Bradford’s quartet of Zach Miller, Rhyan Turner, Hunter Penkal and Kyle Mills finished fifth in the boys 4×200 meter relay in a time of 1:38.01 while Ansonia’s team of Devyn Sink, Max Wardrip, Brett Campbell and Michael Schaar finished seventh in 1:43.06.

Ansonia’s Megan Bergman finished 18th in the girls 1,600 meter run with a time of 7:57.81.

Bradford’s Johnny Fike finished ninth in the finals of the boys 1,600 meter run in a time of 4:59.57 while Ansonia’s Logan Warner finished 22nd in the preliminaries in 5:39.50, Bradford’s Shane Bryan finished 25th in 5:59.14 and Ansonia’s Daniel Shaner finished 27th in 6:31.81.

Ansonia’s quartet of Stefani Garrett, Aliya Barga, Bailey Stammen and Lydia Sink finished fifth in the finals of the girls 4×100 meter relay with a time of 53.42 while Bradford’s team of Christina Crosby, Kelly Moore, Mackenzie Weldy and Brooke Fair finished 14th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:02.06.

Bradford’s quartet of Kyle Mills, Hayden Dickerson, Thomas Wilt and Hunter Penkal was disqualified in the preliminaries of the boys 4×100 meter relay.

Bradford’s Destiny Otte finished seventh in the finals of the girls 400 meter relay with a time of 1:05.95 while Ansonia’s Aliya Barga finished 14th in the preliminaries in a time of 1:07.90 and Ansonia’s Audrey Kelly finished 23rd in 1:23.47.

Ansonia’s Logan Warner finished 21st in the preliminaries of the boys 400 meter run in 1:06.50.

Ansonia’s Bailey Stammen finished 11th in the preliminaries of the girls 300 meter hurdles with a time of 54.56 and Bradford’s Adria Roberts finished 15th in 56.85.

Bradford’s Hunter Penkal finished 10th in the preliminaries of the boys 300 meter hurdles in a time of 46.96, Ansonia’s Matthew Shook finished 16th in 50.61 and Ansonia’s Ryan Willoughby finished 17th in 51.38.

Ansonia’s Skyler Marker finished 12th in the finals of the girls 800 meter run in a time of 2:43.96 while Ansonia’s Amber Bergman finished 19th in the preliminaries in 2:57.91.

Bradford’s Johnny Fike finished 14th in the finals of the boys 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.82 while Ansonia’s Logan Warner finished 24th in the preliminaries in 2:32.23 and Ansonia’s Payton Setser finished 26th in 2:38.45.

Ansonia’s Atyah Knowles finished ninth in the preliminaries of the girls 200 meter run in 28.63, Bradford’s Maia Stump finished 13th in 29.55, Ansonia’s Emily Bennett finished 19th in 30.90 and Bradford’s Kelly Moore finished 20th in 31.88.

Ansonia’s Devyn Sink finished 17th in the preliminaries of the boys 200 meter run in 25.81 and Bradford’s Thomas Wilt finished 24th in 28.44.

Ansonia’s Daniel Shaner finished 23rd in the boys 3,200 meter run with a time of 13:42.68 and Ansonia’s Jacob Vietor finished 24th in 14:25.20.

Bradford’s quartet of Karmen Knepp, Maia Stump, Kelly Moore and Destiny Otte finished seventh in the finals of the girls 4×400 meter relay in a time of 4:34.61 while Ansonia’s team of Katie Werts, Amber Bergman, Skyler Marker and Emily Bennett finished 12th in the preliminaries in 4:43.71.

Ansonia’s squad of Trevor Alexander, Michael Schaar, Matthew Shook and Brett Campbell finished 11th in the preliminaries of the boys 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:06.44.

Ansonia’s Jerica Thwaits finished sixth in the girls discus throw with a throw of 95 feet 11 inches, Bradford’s Mackenzie Weldy finished ninth with a throw of 90 feet 3 inches, Ansonia’s Heidi Runkel finished 21st with a throw of 74 feet 3 inches and Bradford’s Christina Crosby finished 30th with a throw of 46 feet 6 inches.

Ansonia’s Heath Barga finished fifth in the boys discus throw with a throw of 130 feet 7 inches, Bradford’s Jacob McQuinn finished 24th with a throw of 82 feet 2 inches, Bradford’s Andrew Moyer finished 28th with a throw of 72 feet 5 inches and Ansonia’s Ross Shook finished 29th with a throw of 63 feet 9 inches.

Bradford’s Mackenzie Weldy finished 11th in the girls shot put with a toss of 30 feet 4.75 inches, Ansonia’s Heidi Runkel finished 13th with a throw of 29 feet 1 inch, Ansonia’s Aleesha Gates finished 25th with a toss of 25 feet 6.25 inches and Bradford’s Brooke Fair finished 30th with a throw of 20 feet 7.25 inches.

Bradford’s Jacob McQuinn finished 14th in the boys shot put with a throw of 31 feet 4.5 inches, Ansonia’s Ross Shook finished 18th with a toss of 30 feet 0.5 inches and Bradford’s Andrew Moyer finished 29th with a throw of 23 feet 1 inch.

Ansonia’s Bailey Stammen finished seventh in the girls long jump with a jump of 14 feet 10.25 inches and Bradford’s Maia Stump finished eighth with a throw of 14 feet 6.75 inches.

Ansonia’s Ryan Willoughby finished seventh in the boys long jump with a jump of 17 feet 11.75 inches, Ansonia’s Dane Wentworth finished 12th with a jump of 17 feet 3.5 inches and Bradford’s Hayden Dickerson finished 22nd with a throw of 14 feet 9.75 inches.

Ansonia’s Aliya Barga finished eighth in the girls high jump by clearing 4 feet 8 inches, Bradford’s Mackenzie Weldy finished ninth by clearing 4 feet 6 inches and Bradford’s Adria Roberts didn’t record a height.

Ansonia’s Austin Alexander finished sixth in the boys high jump by clearing 5 feet 10 inches and Bradford’s Kyle Mills finished 10th by clearing 5 feet 6 inches.

Ansonia’s Amber Aultman finished fifth in the girls pole vault by clearing 8 feet 6 inches, Ansonia’s Stefani Garrett finished seventh by clearing 8 feet and Bradford’s Kelly Moore finished ninth by clearing 8 feet.

Ansonia’s Matthew Shook finished seventh in the boys pole vault by clearing 10 feet 6 inches.

The Ansonia and Bradford regional qualifiers will continue their seasons at the OHSAA Division III regional meet at Troy High School. Competition will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday and 5 p.m. Friday.
