Greenville softball team run rules Houston

GREENVILLE – The Greenville softball team won its 25th game of the season on Monday, run ruling Houston 16-4 in five innings during a regular season game.

Greenville took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second and added seven in the third inning. Houston scored all four of its runs in the top of the fourth, and Greenville finished off the scoring with six in the bottom half of the inning.

Greenville had 17 hits and one error in the game while Houston had three hits and seven errors.

Sydney Grote went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a walk, three runs and four RBIs for the Lady Wave. Cassie Cromwell was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Jazzlyn Petry was 3-for-4 and scored two runs.

Alli Hill went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Karsyn Shaffer was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Allison Minnich went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and a RBI.

Ashton Kester was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Logan Tabler was 1-for-3 and drove in a run. Makayla Hanes walked once, drove in two runs and scored three runs. Alexis Byers scored three runs while Lauren Baughn and Tess McClure both scored a run.

Minnich pitched the complete game, allowing two earned runs and two unearned runs on three hits, no walks and one strikeout.
