3 Versailles Lady Tiger relays qualify for OHSAA state track meet

DAYTON – Three Lady Tiger relays qualified for state as the Versailles girls track and field team competed in the Division II regional meet at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.

The top four finishers in each event at the regional meet qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track and field meet at The Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Versailles’ quartet of Ellen Peters, Cassie Peters, Liz Watren and Haley Winner finished as the regional runner up with a time of 1:44.35 in the 4×200 meter relay to qualify for state.

Versailles’ team of Cassie Peters, Ellen Peters, Jenna Frantz and Haley Winner finished fourth in the 4×100 meter relay in 50.15 to advance to state.

The Lady Tigers squad of Haley Winner, Cassie Peters, Emily Langenkamp and Liz Watren finished fourth in the 4×400 meter relay in a time of 4:02.65, qualifying for state.

Other Versailles girls finished outside the top four in their events and didn’t qualify for state.

Jenna Frantz earned a place on the podium in the girls long jump by placing fifth with a jump of 17 feet 3.25 inches, just a quarter inch off state-qualifying position.

Ellen Peters earned a spot on the podium in the girls 300 meter hurdles as she finished fifth in 47.19.

Versailles’ quartet of of Emily Langenkamp, Tori Schulze, Liz Watren and Madison Grilliot finished seventh in the 4×800 meter relay in a time of 10:05.63, earning a spot on the podium.

Haley Winner finished ninth in the preliminaries of the girls 100 meter dash in 13.26.

Dana Rose finished ninth in the preliminaries of the girls 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.54.

Versailles’ state qualifiers now will compete in the Division II state track and field meet on June 3 and 4.

The preliminaries of the girls 4×200 meter relay are set for 2:30 p.m. June 3, the preliminaries of the girls 4×100 meter relay are set for 2:50 p.m. June 3, and the preliminaries of the girls 4×400 meter relay are set for 4 p.m. June 3.

The finals will be contested on June 4 with the girls 4×200 meter relay at 1:15 p.m., the girls 4×100 meter relay at 1:50 p.m. and the girls 4×400 meter relay at 3:15 p.m.
