Greenville’s Isabella Gable places in 2 events at OHSAA state swim meet

CANTON – Greenville sophomore Isabella Gable placed in both of her events at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II state swim meet at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Gable finished third in the girls 200 yard freestyle finals on Friday with a time of 1:51.34. In Thursday’s preliminaries she finished the event in 1:53.25.

In the 200 freestyle final Gable finished behind Cincinnati Mariemont sophomore Cora Dupre who won the event in 1:48.65 and Gates Mills Hawken junior Portia Del Rio Brown who finished second in 1:51.10.

Gable finished seventh in the girls 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.40 on Friday. In Thursday’s preliminaries she finished the event in 5:06.58.

In the 500 freestyle finals Gable finished behind Cincinnati Seven Hills junior Lucy Callard who won the state championship in 4:54.13, Tippecanoe senior Arielle Arnett who finished second in 4:59.82, Gates Mills Hawken freshman Sylvia Stewart-Bates won finished third in 5:01.43, Gates Mills Hawken junior Bella Ratino who finished fourth in 5:02.27, Chaminade Juilenne junior Macleary Moran who finished fifth in 5:02.80 and Cleves Taylor senior Abby Rapien who finished sixth in 5:05.20.

This was the second consecutive year that Gable qualified for the state championship meet. As a freshman she finished 11th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.38.
