Versailles baseball team wins at Lima Shawnee

LIMA – Austin Knapke threw a shutout as the Versailles baseball team broke a four-game losing streak with a 10-0 run rule victory at Shawnee on Monday.

Versailles scored four runs in the second inning, one in the fourth and five in the fifth while holding Shawnee scoreless in the five-inning run rule.

Versailles had 11 hits and no errors, and Shawnee had four hits and one error.

Knapke pitched the complete game, allowing no runs on four hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

Kyle Subler went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Jacob Heitkamp was 2-for-2 with a walk, a RBI and two runs. Keaton McEdowney was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and two RBI. Cole Neikamp went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Kurtis Rutschilling went 1-for-3, was hit by a pitch and drove in two runs. Noah Grisez was 1-for-2, walked once and scored a run. Knapke was hit by a pitch and drove in a run. Noah Richard walked and scored a run.
