VERSAILLES – Despite having just four hits the Versailles softball team beat Russia 4-2 on Thursday.
Versailles scored one run in the third inning and three in the fourth while Russia scored both of its runs in the seventh.
Versailles had four hits and four errors while Russia had nine hits and two errors.
Caitlin McEldowney went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Kami McEldowney was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Hailey McEldowney and Cori Lawrence both went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Anna Gehret walked once, stole a base, scored a run and drove in a run. Kate Stammen also scored a run.
Lawrence pitched the complete game, allowing two earned runs on nine hits, no walks and five strikeouts.
It was senior day for Versailles softball players Brynna Blakeley and Sarah Gigandet on Thursday.
