Ansonia baseball team loses at Newton

PLEASANT HILL – Ansonia lost 10-2 to National Trail in a Cross County Conference baseball game on Wednesday.

National Trail took a 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second innings. Ansonia scored one run in the third and fourth innings to reduce its deficit to 4-2, but then Newton added four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Ansonia had six hits and three errors. Newton had 12 hits and one error.

Rygh Fortkamp went 2-for-2, walked and drove in a run for Ansonia. Devyn Sink was 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Kane Kimmel went 2-for-4. Ethan Fischer was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Keith Burk walked and scored a run.

Burk pitched three innings, allowing one earned run and three unearned runs on five hits, one walk, one hit batter and one strikeout. Kimmel pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and three unearned runs on seven hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Fischer pitched 2/3 on an inning and retired both batters he faced.
