DARKE COUNTY — Ramco Electric Motors of Greenville recently presented substantial donations to two local high school programs.
David Dunaway, owner and president of the company, presented two checks for $10,000 — one to Greenville High School Career Tech Center (GHSCTC) and the other to Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) — on behalf of his company.
Dunaway also presented a third check for $2,000 to the Greenville High School Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) departments.
Ramco produces parts for electric motors used in numerous military and aerospace applications.
“We want to invest in our community,” said Dunaway. “This donation is geared for students seeking high-tech positions. We are investing in kids who could be future employees for us.”
Dunaway said the company had reaped what he called “nice profits” and was determined to give back to the community.
“Not only do we do profit sharing with our employees, we wanted to share with local students,” he said.
Dunaway added, “Ultimately, our vision, our mission, is to better our community.”
Doug Fries, superintendent of Greenville City Schools, expressed his gratitude on behalf of his district, saying, “We are extremely appreciative for the support of our career tech program. We sincerely thank Ramco for the donation.”
“We plan to use part of the grant to develop our advanced engineering lab,” he added.
GHSCTC teaches trade skills in a variety of different occupational fields to students in the Greenville School District.
MVCTC serves Darke County students in a similar fashion, with students attending from the Ansonia, Arcanum-Butler, Franklin Monroe, Mississinawa Valley, Tri-Village and Versailles School Districts.
