Greenville girls tennis takes MVL win over Stebbins

GREENVILLE — The Greenville girls tennis team defeated Stebbins 4-1 in a home MVL match on August 28.

In the first singles, sophomore Riley Capasso defeated junior Rayna Ortiz 6-0 and 6-1. Junior Maddie Lance was up 4-3 in the first set against senior Rabiya Dauletaliy but had to forfeit due to health reasons. Sophomore Sienna Gilman split the first two sets 4-6 and 7-6 to junior Maddie Mann. Gilman then won the tie breaker 10-4.

In the first doubles, senior Haylee Shuttleworth and sophomore Meadow Murphy won 6-1 in both sets over sophomore La’Issa Gakunzi and junior Stephanie Chen. In the second doubles, senior Charlie Pope and junior Cloe Osborne won 6-0 and 6-1 over sophomore EmaLee Crackel and freshman Randall.

Greenville will take on West Carrollton next on the road at Wilson Park on September 3 at 4:30 p.m.
