September means it’s pawpaw season in Ohio. This small green/yellow fruit is native to the Eastern United States and has been in the Ohio River Valley for over 30,000 years. Today, there are still many wild pawpaw trees in Ohio and their falling fruits are a favorite for birds, wildlife and insects. Hike around the trails looking for signs of fall. Meet their animal ambassadors in their Nature Center. Explore Aullwood’s Nature Store and Gift Shop located at the Nature Center and find delightful gifts, games, puzzles and more.

Aullwood Audubon is happy to welcome the Faerie Houses of Aullwood! Come and explore our paved Cardinal Trail to discover these charming faerie houses. This year, the faeries wanted to discover more about birds, so they’ve followed these feathered beauties through the seasons and special birding events to learn more about them. Match each house with the magical season or special event, then bring your completed form back to our front desk and win a prize!
