County offices closed

GREENVILLE — Darke County’s county offices will be closed for the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, Sept. 2.

Bradford RR Heritage Day

BRADFORD — Bradford Railroad Heritage Day will be held Sept. 14 at the Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum. The day will feature historic exhibits, ham radio demonstrations, railroad operation demonstrations, children’s hobo crafts, bouncy houses, games, raffle prizes, Operation Livesaver, railroad vendors, railroad and gospel music with live performances, Thomas and the Red Caboose kiddie ride, and railroad book sale. The museum and tower will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tours.

Singles Dance at VFW

GREENVILLE — The Greenville VFW is now sponsoring the Darke County Singles Dances. The next dance is on Saturday, Sept. 14. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the dance is from 8-11 p.m. There is a $9 cover charge. The band will be Mike Willis. Additional food will be available and there will be a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, and instant tickets. Come enjoy a fun evening of dancing. All are welcome, singles or couples. Office closed for Labor Day

GREENVILLE — The Daily Advocate/The Early Bird office, including customer service, will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gourd Patch meets/art show cancelled

GREENVILLE — The West Central Ohio Gourd Patch met on July 11, at 6:30 p.m., at the Shawnee Prairie Nature Center. The topics of discussion were the First Friday Artisan Stroll and the upcoming second annual Art Show, which was to be held Sept. 7, at the Greenville Area Dog Club but has now been cancelled. The next meeting will be held Sept. 12 at the Shawnee Prairie Nature Center, 6:30 pm. Discussion will include the 61st annual Ohio Gourd Society Show at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, on Oct. 4-6. For more information on the show, visit www ohiogourdsociety.com.

Fall Cruise-in

GREENVILLE — The Legendary Rolling 50’s Classics will host its annual Fall Cruise-in on Saturday, Sept. 7, beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. in historic downtown Greenville. Don’t miss one of the largest cruise-ins in the state of Ohio. Dash plaques will be presented to the first 450 cars and trophies will be presented at 8 p.m. The cruise-in entry fee is $10. There will be a live DJ with music from the 50s and 60s. There will be no parking on Broadway until after 2 p.m. No alcoholic beverage, burnouts or flame throwing devices are allowed. Class of 1965 lunch

GREENVILLE — The Greenville High School Class of 1965 will hold its lunch on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 11:30 a.m., at the Moose Lodge, 1200 Sweitzer Street, Greenville, phone 937-548-8741 (across from Clark’s Gasoline Station). Spouses, guests and/or significant others are also invited, as well as members of other Greenville High School classes.
