Tonight is the special Arcanum Purple Heart event! Since the event is being held on such a historic day, tributes will also be paid to those affected by 9/11. Those interested in being part of the golf cart parade, please plan on being at the Arcanum Family Dollar by 6:15. Feel free to decorate your golf carts/ ATV/Razors. The Village is looking for 32 golf carts/ATV/Razors that would be willing to display a Purple Heart Inductee’s picture on their cart. Please contact Julie Miller at the Village Office if interested, by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-692-8500. The parade will commence at 6:30 p.m. and proceed to the Arcanum VFW, 311 S. Albright Street for the Purple Heart Induction Ceremony at 7 p.m. Dinner is available at the VFW via donation (pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, and chips).

The Arcanum Preservation Society will present Fulton: The Music Man of Arcanum on Saturday, September 14th at the Opera House at 2 p.m. This is an Ohio Open Doors Event. Join them for a look at Arcanum’s very own Music Man, Mr. Benjamin F. Fulton. In addition, they will be offering building tours and a screening of the 1962 film “The Music Man”. Be sure to grab your popcorn before you head to the auditorium. You won’t want to miss this! The Arcanum Opera House is located at 104 W. South Street, Arcanum.

The Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society will present “The Perilous Road to the Treaty of Greenville” on Thursday, September 12, at 7 p.m. Presenter, Mike Wells will trace his ancestors’ journey from Maryland to the Kentucky frontier in the 1790s. He will discuss the conditions of everyday life on the frontier and the dangers that led to his family’s unique connection to the historic signing of the Treaty of Greenville in 1795. The event will take place at the AWTHS, 123 West George Street. Following the presentation, there will be refreshments recognizing the AWTHS’s 20th anniversary.

The 2024 Harvest Extravaganza is necessary- attend fall event that takes place on a picturesque countryside farm at 5207 Weavers Ft Jefferson Rd Greenville, on Saturday, September 28th 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 29th 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. This innovative market provides rustic gifts, furniture, and home décor all in one vibrant place with seventy-five carefully selected vendors. Vendors have a lot of vintage styles ranging from farmhouse to industrial and from mid-century to primitive. Handmade goods include jewelry, imaginative home décor, spa-style bath goodies, and candles, as well as boutique clothing, mums, pumpkins and all things fall and Christmas. Indulge yourself with tasty treats from local food trucks and vendors, including sandwiches, BBQ, wood fired pizza and breadsticks, fried chicken, sweet treats, kettle corn, and baked goods.

The Harvest Extravaganza will also present the soulful sounds of live bluegrass music with talented musicians, Tony Hale and Blackwater on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and Justin Hoke and Company on Sunday from Noon to 3 p.m. The Harvest Extravaganza promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees. Whether you are a fall enthusiast, a lover of unique finds, or simply looking for a fun day out, this event offers a delightful blend of entertainment, shopping, and delicious food.

Grab your friends, flannels, and fuzzy socks because fall is here! Nothing will get you more prepared for fall than visiting the Bear’s Mill Fall Open House on Saturday October 12th and Sunday October 13th from 11-5. You will be able to stroll through the property soaking in all the colors, sounds, and smells of autumn in Ohio. The Bears Mill Annual Fall Open House is always a crowd pleaser! There will also be special music on Saturday provided by Danny Schneible followed by Adam Stall. Sunday’s live music will start with Bill Westfall and Cindy Slick and end with Noah Back. Bear’s Mill is located just eight miles north of Arcanum at 6450 Arcanum-Bears Mill Road.

Coming to the Arcanum Public Library in September! A LEGO event for adults is coming to the Arcanum Public Library! Adults are invited to drop in on Thursday, September 12th from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for a Star Wars LEGO and movie evening. While “The Empire Strikes Back” is showing on the screen, put together one of the new Star Wars LEGO kits! Appetizers will be served for this fun program.

Healthy Cooking classes will be held for 10 weeks on Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. at the APL. They will run from September 12th – November 14th. There will be a variety of topics, and food will be prepared and tasted at each class. Insta-pot and Air fryer recipes will also be featured. Call the library at 937-692-8484 or drop in to add your name to the list to ensure we have adequate supplies for all participants. Patrons can sign up for individual classes, or for multiple classes. APL is located at 101 West North Street in Arcanum.

In 2022, with the help of the community 12 trees were planted in Ivester Park and are growing nicely. The Village offices are excited to release information for those wanting to help the tree replenishment in Ivester Park for 2024. This year individuals have the option to donate in monetary increments, or by being a Platinum Sponsor purchasing an entire tree.
