High school golf conference tournaments round up

DARKE COUNTY — The high school boys and girls golf teams competed in their conference tournaments last week. Here are the results from the tournaments.

WOAC:

The boys and girls teams competed at Richmond Elks Country Club. For the boys team standings, Arcanum took second place with a 327. Franklin Monroe took fourth with a 345, Tri-Village took fifth with a 355, Bradford took eighth with a 375, Ansonia took ninth with a 378 and Mississinawa Valley took eleventh with a 397.

For the Trojans, Graham Brubaker and Luke Stephens both tied for the second best score with a 75. Brubaker was named Boys Golfer of the Year. Aiden Carlisle had an 86. RJ Brothers and Seth Fearon each had a 91. Lance Brinksneader had a 94. For Franklin Monroe, Chase Stebbins led the team with an 81. Leo Kinnison and Brandt Filbrun both had an 85 and Reed Brumbaugh had a 94. Braden Gilbert finished with a 99 and Trevor Swiger finished with a 105. Tri-Village was led by Brecken Gray with an 85. Trey Homan and Cameron Kimmel both had an 88 and Kohen Burns had a 94. Ryder Brummett had a 95 and Wesley Osborne had a 106. For Bradford, Gage Shafer led with an 84. Treyl Manuel had an 85, Landon Helman had a 102 and Ryan Hocker had a 104. Owen Canan shot a 109 and Greg Chowing shot a 111. For Ansonia, Byron Young led with an 87. Ryder Sanders had a 95 and Noah Heck had a 96. Darby Gilland had a 100 and Luke Hahn had a 154. For the Blackhawks, Jaxin Beanblossom led with an 86. Cole McGlothlin had a 94, Braden Wisner had a 97 and Conner Hardy had a 120. Carson Hamilton had a 126 and Theron Douglass had a 142.

For the girls standings, Arcanum took first place for bakc to back WOAC championships with a score of 391 and capped off their 10-0 season. Tri-Village finished close behind with a 394. Ansonia finished with a team score of 500.

For Arcanum, Brooke Anderson finished tied for second with a score of 89 in the field. Emma Rogers and Adalyn Paul both had a 94 which finished tied for the fourth best score. Payten Parks finished with a 114. For Tri-Village, Reagan Brewer finished as the medalist with a 74 and was named the Girls Golfer of the Year. Taylor Begoon finished third overall with a 92. Addie Pipenger shot a 112 and Macy Shetler shot a 116. Kaylie Lytle had a 124. For Ansonia, Zoey Elson finished with a 106. Sophia Aultman had a 120 while Emma Brown and Natalie Midlam both shot a 137. For Franklin Monroe, Abigail Fourman finished with a 111 which was the tenth best score.

Arcanum head coach Andrew Bryant and Ansonia head coach Margaret Middleton were named WOAC Girls Golf Co-Coaches of the Year.

MVL:

The Greenville boys and girls teams competed at Locust Hills in the MVL tournament. The boys finished in sixth place with a score of 331. Drew Beisner led the team with an 81. Hayden Null had an 82, Cole Oswalt had an 83 and Brody Weaver had an 85. Carson Good finished with a 90 and Josh Baker finished with a 93.

The girls finished fourth. Vera Cox led with an 84. Taylor Trissel had a 93, Callee Moore had a 96 and Reese Addington had a 103. Paityn Lehr had a 116 and Kennedy Schoen had a 128. All the top four scores were personal best for the golfers.

MAC:

The Versailles boys team competed at Mercer County Elks while the girls team competed at their home course at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.

The boys shot a 345 at the tournament, a season-low score for the team. Brayden Wagner led the team with a 79. Ethan Phlipot shot a 90, Seth Shafer and Maddox Stonebraker shot an 88. The 88 was a personal best for both golfers. Austin Ruhenkamp had a 93 and Gavin Hecht had a 113.

The girls team took fifth place with a score of 442. Ella Porter was the medalist of the event for the second straight year to earn back to back Player of the Year awards. Brooke Keiser tied for 13th with a score of 107, Madelyn Farver had a 122 and Lucy Schmitmeyer had a 131. Danielle Francis finished with a 134 and Keira Rahm finished with a 139.
