No matter what type of music you like, Darke County Center for the Arts 2024-2025 Artists Series opening act will appeal to you. Described as “genre-defying,” TAKE3 plays top pop hits, Americana favorites, and classical mashups such as combining bluegrass standard “Orange Blossom Special” with Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” and beloved hymn “Amazing Grace” with music by Bach. TAKE3 was formed and is led by Lindsay Deutsch, who has toured throughout the world as Yanni’s featured violinist. Lindsay and her cohorts will take the stage at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville on Saturday, October 12; the trio will also perform for local high school students, visiting Darke County and Greenville City schools during the week preceding their Artists Series performance.

Described as playing with “a flair for the wild and unexpected,” while bringing “the refinement of a rigorous classical music background infused with rock star charisma,” TAKE3 musicians were trained at the world’s top conservatories. However, their infectious, down-to-earth personalities and passionate performances are the factors most captivating tocrowds around the nation. Although publicity materials for TAKE3 describe the group as “stunning, superb, and powerful,” my description is somewhat less impressive, but just as appealing (at least to my mind). I think this concert sounds like a whole lot of fun!

Experiencing a concert by TAKE3 has been described by audiences-goers as “a mini-Trans Siberian Orchestra experience!” Their live performances appeal to audiences raised on rock videos, their music interspersed with comedic tales of the journey the group’s members have taken while moving from scales in conservatory pracice rooms to pop music in packed stadiums. Having expanded their repertoire from Bach and Beethoven to include music by Bieber and the Beach Boys, these exceptional musicians play entertaining and approachable music which, combined with the performers’ inherent charisma, easily connects to audiences of all ages.

Lindsay Deutsch began her career as a classical soloist, and her performance with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra was featured on National Public Radio’s Symphony Cast. Lindsay and her violin have also accompanied shows on Netflix and Hulu, performances which reached number one on Billboard charts and received millions of streams worldwide. Additionally, Ms. Deutsch has become an ambassador for the Violins of Hope project, resulting in performances in venues around the country on violins that were saved from the Holocaust.

Tickets for the concert by TAKE3 cost $30, and can be purchased by visiting DarkeCountyArts.org, calling 937-547-0908, or visiting the DCCA office, located on the third floor of Greenville Public Library; office hours are 1 p.m. till 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays or by appointment. Subscriptions to DCCA’s entire Artist Series are also availabe; season tickets are $130.

DCCA’s Artists Series will continue at St. Clair Memorial Hall on Saturday, November 16 with “Evening in the Round,” starring Grammy-winning vocalist Linda Davis, who is best known for her hit song “Does He Love You” recorded with Reba McEntire. The season continues on Saturday, March 22 when world-class a cappella ensemble Six Appeal takes the stage, and will conclude on Saturday, May 10 with a performance by the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. All Artists Series concerts start at 7 p.m.
