Greenville girls tennis end season at sectionals

TROY — The Greenville girls tennis team ended their season at the Division I Southwest Sectional at Troy High School on Oct. 2.

In the singles brackets, sophomore Riley Capasso fell in the first round to Emma Filc from Butler. Sophomore Sienna Gilman won her first match against Brynnlee Ball from Fairborn. Gilman then lost in the next round to Nina Short from Troy. Junior Maddie Lance made a run in the singles bracket. After a bye in the first round, Lance won matches over Abrianna Anderson from Piqua and Shyla Thomson from Tecumseh. In the semi-finals of the second bracket, Lance fell to the eventual Sectional champion in Lily Braswell from Northmont.

In the doubles brackets, Senior Haylee Shuttleworth and sophomore Meadow Murphy won their first round match. They lost their next match against Dauletaliy and Mann from Stebbins. Senior Charlie Pope and sophomore Kirsten Horn lost their first round match to Smedley and Evans from Northmont.

Greenville finished the season with an 8-8 record and a 5-4 MVL record. They finished fifth in the MVL tournament.
