Two trucks overturn near North Star

NORTH STAR — On Oct. 20, at approximately 10:44 p.m., Darke County Deputies along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, North Star Fire Department, and Ansonia Rescue, were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and State Route 705, New Weston, in reference to an injury accident involving two semi-tractor trailers.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia hauling yogurt was traveling west on State Route 705 at U.S. 127. The Freightliner failed to yield the right of way to a 2013 Peterbilt 389 that was traveling north on U.S. 127; hauling eggs. The Peterbilt struck the trailer of the Freightliner causing both vehicles and trailers to overturn.

The driver of the Peterbilt was identified as Kristopher Bahner, 25, of Lima. Bahner had to be extracted from the semi by mechanical means and was ultimately transported to Wayne Healthcare for suspected non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner was identified as Azamat Mukumov, 39, of Brooklyn, New York. Mukumov was transported to Wayne Healthcare for precautionary measures.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
