Lehman sets new school record, Moorman takes first; cross country roundup

DARKE COUNTY — The cross country season has begun as team’s competed in their first Saturday race on August 24. Here are some of the results from the high school cross country meets.

Bob Schul Invitational:

Most of the teams around the county competed in the Bob Schul Invitational at Milton-Union. In the Division 1/Large Division II division, Greenville boys took 11th place. The girls team took eighth place.

For the boys, junior Owen Marker finished in 27th place with a time of 17:17.3. Sophomore Karr Hiestand took 44th with a 17:48.9 and junior Coleman McNulty took 50th with a 17:53.5. For the girls, freshman Leah Force took 42nd with a time of 22:32.2. Freshman Meredith Hunt finished close behind at 43rd with a 22:32.4. Senior Jenica Feitshans took 52nd with a 23:06.0.

In the Division 2/3 race, the Versailles boys team took first place. Arcanum finished in 14th, Franklin Monroe in 21st and Bradford finished in 27th.

For Versailles, Tony Moorman finished first overall with a time of 16:23.5. His teammate Jackson Spitzer took second with a 16:24.5. Zachary Rahm took 11th with a time of 16:56.9. For Arcanum, Malachi Wright took 55th with a time of 18:19.3. Clark Lemons took 86th with a 18:55.2 and Micah Arbogast took 98th with a 19:07.2. For Franklin Monroe, senior Sam Haney took 77th with a time of 18:39.1. Freshman Charlie Stull took 114th with a 19:33.3 and sophomore Vail Cox took 131st with a 19:52.2. For Bradford, sophomore Kyree Roberts took 232nd with a time of 22:04.2. Freshman Brendan Hansen took 235th with a 22:07.7 and senior Stephen Stewart took 258th with a 22:54.8. Competing for Mississinawa Valley, senior Daniel Hartzell took 101st with a 19:08.9. For Tri-Village, junior Chris Brinley took 109th with a time of 19:20.2. Junior Brady Beisner took 176th with a 20:52.6 and freshman Nolan Blackford took 291st with a 24:28.2.

In the girls division, Versailles took sixth place as a team. Mississinawa Valley took 14th place, Arcanum finished close behind at 15th with Franklin Monroe just trailing behind them at 17th.

For Versailles, Ava Rismiller took 17th with a time of 21:20.8. Gabrielle Spitzer took 21st with a 21:41.0 and Lillian Selhorst took 39th with a 22:26.7. For Mississinawa Valley, senior Taylee Woodbury took 49th with a time of 23:06.3. Freshman Tenlee Woodbury took 98th with a time of 24:57.0 and senior Harley Hanes took 114th with a time of 25:41.8. For Arcanum, Ella Warren took 54th with a time of 23:10.2. Brynn Byers finished close behind at 55th with a time of 23:10.4. Kennedy Hayes took 120th with a time of 26:13.8. For Franklin Monroe, sophomore Sami Stull took 40th with a time of 22:32.2. Freshman Stella Fugate took 80th with a 24:12.5 and sophomore Mia Brookey took 105th with a 25:23.6. For Bradford, Savannah Beachler took 66th with a time of 23:33.7. Emma Lavey took 83rd with a 24:28.9 and Natalie Wood took 131st with a 26:43.6. Competiting for Tri-Village, senior Grace Bergman took 154th with a time of 29:19.0.

Celina Rotary XC Invitational:

The Ansonia boys and girls teams competed in the Rotary Invitational at Celina. In the Division III boys group, sophomore Bennett Lehamn took first overall with a school record time of 16:08.8. Senior Ethan Sparks took third with a time of 18:28.6 and junior Luken Longennecker took 14th with a 19:29.4. Sophomore Wyatt Unrast took 15th with a 19:34.5. As a team, the boys took second place finishing behind Coldwater.

For the girls, they finished in sixth place as a team. Junior Olivia Creager took 13th with a time of 24:24.9. Sophomore Alexa Kreiner took 23rd with a 26:19.1 and junior Bella Obringer took 41st with a 30:02.5.
