GREENVILLE — Brethren Retirement Community welcomed author, Lois Smith, and contributor, Lin Roberts, to its campus last week as they were the recipient of a generous donation of five copies of Bear’s Mill: A Place In Time, an educational book that captures the rich history of Bear’s Mill.

During their visit, the author and contributor not only presented the books to BRC’s library and resident neighborhoods, but they also took time to personally sign each copy, making them a special keepsake for our residents. Lois scribed, “Please enjoy this true story of Bear’s Mill.” Lin wrote, “Celebrate history”. They believe these books will be thoroughly enjoyed by the residents, providing them with an opportunity to learn more about Bear’s Mill, a popular landmark that holds a special place in the hearts of many in Darke County. These new books are a wonderful addition to to the library and will provide meaningful history to the residents.

John Warner, President & CEO of Brethren Retirement Community remarked, “Darke County has many wonderful community assets. Bears Mill certainly is one of them. The Mill preserves a rich history and tradition, which today continues to be enjoyed by many Darke County residents and visitors each year. We would like to thank author, Lois Smith, Lin Roberts, Terry & Julie Clark and many others whose efforts made the Book: “Bears Mill-A Place in Time” possible. We are grateful to the Friends of Bears Mill and the Darke County Parks District for their generous donation of the book for our library. This will be enjoyed by residents and guests alike as they learn about the Mill and its interesting story. So, from all of us at BRC, thank you and our best wishes to the Mill and Parks for many years to come.”
