Ribbon cutting planned in North Star

NORTH STAR — The North Star community will celebrate the new facilities built in North Star Community Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon with community leaders, donors, and many distinguished guests.

A new shelter house with accessible men’s, women’s, and family restrooms, an expanded concession area, a storage room, and larger under-shelter seating was constructed in the same location as the previous building that served the community for over 40 years. Also, a safer press box was built behind the ball diamond with storage added on the bottom of the structure and a media/announcer booth built on top of the structure. Paved and lighted walkways to ensure handicap/stroller access to the baseball diamond, shelter house/restrooms, and playground have been installed. Both parking lots will be replaced in the spring of 2025.

The new amenities provide easy-to-maintain facilities and a larger space for community gatherings as well as safe access to all areas of the park for everyone. This project will truly serve a wide variety of activities and provide facilities that will sustain the community’s needs for future growth and usage. Many individuals/families and local businesses in the North Star community and the greater Versailles area saw the importance and value of investing in the North Star community by making substantial gifts to the campaign. To date, over $1,050,000 has been raised to facilitate this project. The North Star community is grateful for this support and looks forward to enjoying its park for many years to come.
