Arcanum News: AHS partners with Ramco Electric for internship program

0

During the 2015 – 16 school year, Arcanum High School entered into partnership with Ramco Electric Motors to begin an internship program for students from our high school in the areas of production, business, and engineering.

During the second semester of the school year, AHS seniors Justin Hoke and Michael Johnson became the first two interns in the program. Justin is interning in the business side of the company while Michael is working on the production side of the company. The students are getting real life work experience in fields that they would like to pursue in the future. Earlier this month, both Michael and Justin were nominated for the 20 under 20 awards. The 20 under 20 awards are for the purpose of giving recognition to Mercer, Darke, or Auglaize students, schools, and businesses who work collaboratively with the purpose of training and/or career development for individuals under the age of 20.

This internship opportunity would not have been possible without the efforts of Dave Dunaway, president of Ramco Electric Motors, Bethany Menke, human resources and safety manager, and Tara Hagan, Arcanum High School guidance counselor. Arcanum High School looks forward to continuing the program and increasing the number of students involved in this program during the next school year. If you are a current AHS student or a recent AHS graduate that is either majoring in engineering at college or has a strong interest in engineering and would be in interested in a summer engineering internship with Ramco, please contact Mrs. Hagan or Mr. Stephan at the high school for further details.
